Hello! My name is Diana Potakh Casey. I am based in beautiful Santa Fe, NM, and I grew up in Brooklyn, NY by way of Odessa, Ukraine. I got my degree in Fine Art at School of Visual Arts in NYC and became obsessed with Fiber Art post college.
My art is very much inspired by nature, and memory of time spent in nature. I want to hold onto the feeling of peacefulness from when I spend time outside, and all the energies vibrating of the living beings and the land. For materials I use cotton, wool, linen, and sometimes a synthetic thread if I’ve bought a vintage roll of yarn. I’m trying to use as many biodegradable materials as possible, so my weavings can one day return to the earth.
